Lou O’Keefe
Painter

Vivacious, spirited colors come together to form vibrant, sculpted realms in American painter Lou O’Keefe‘s works. Taking his subjects from nature, O’Keefe depicts landscapes and cityscapes with a flair for the poetic, yet remains consistently grounded in the magic of the natural. Mostly self-taught, O’Keefe took up painting in order to escape from the demands of his professional golfing career, gradually immersing himself in his art. Like the Impressionist masters, this artist is inspired to paint his surroundings as he experiences them, through pulsating colors and animated forms. He revels in the flexibility and adaptability of his chosen medium of acrylic, alchemically transforming familiar scenes into evocative, spellbinding beauty. “My paintings are not just a duplication of what my eyes see but rather a visual of what my soul feels,” says the painter. “My goal as an artist is to bring my paintings from a one-dimensional surface to a three dimensional experience.

A professional golfer as well as an artist, Lou O’Keefe understands painting and golf as similar in the way they connect people to nature. His works are present in corporate and private collections nationwide and in Europe.
