Painter
I am a set designer and artist living in NYC and spending my weekends/summers in Guilford, Connecticut. I have always loved to paint using different mediums, and find the most joy in watercolors. Over the years after much experimentation I have developed my own style with watercolor paints. At the moment, my favorite subjects are oceanside structures, boats, and landscapes, though I continuously explore new ideas for inspiration.
Starlet Jacobs has been painting her whole life, having grown up in a family where creativity and artistic pursuits were highly encouraged. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, she moved to New York City 16 years ago where she currently works as a set designer for theater and television. Her passion for visual art has remained a constant source of joy and reflection, and in the past 10 years a nautical theme emerged in her work. Her husband grew up sailing on his family’s boat on the New England coast, and sailing quickly became a part of Starlet’s life after they met. She started bringing her sketchbook and a small watercolor kit on their summer sailing trips, and soon developed a body of work that continues to grow. She finds particular delight in painting detailed vignettes of colorful old buoys and piles of old ropes, and is on constant watch for more inspiration. She and her husband now have a summer home in Guilford, CT, which is the jumping-off point for their sailing adventures with their young son.
