Karin Almir was introduced to the world of seashells as a child at the seaside in Russia. She moved to Southern California 16 years ago. Though educated as an engineer, the drawing and drafting skills I’d developed as an engineer come in handy when I am trying to come up with more complex and intricate designs and patterns for my shell art.
In March of 2009, Karin participated in the Sanibel Shell Show for the first time, where all three of the works were awarded ribbons. Since then Karin has won awards at that show each year. The complex patterns of her work captivates the viewers to the little intricate details in different parts of the work. Each work below has won awards at the Sanibel Show.
