John Carruthers
Printmaker

With a master’s degree from the New York Academy of Art and five years of printmaking study at Pratt Graphic Center and Hunter College, I have been creating and selling woodcuts for over 25 years. I am currently the Visual and Performing Arts Chair at The Storm King School in Cornwall, NY., a private boarding school, grades 8-12 in the Hudson Valley. During the summer months, I teach at The Artists’ association of Nantucket (kids and adult classes in drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture). I also conduct a woodblock printmaking workshop at The Arts Students League of New York, and for a while, I taught Art History at Mercy College in New York.

Education-
MFA in Drawing and Painting from the New York Academy of Art; BA in Studio Art from Fordham University (summa cum laude); MS in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities from Mercy College. Continuing Education in printmaking and figure study at the Pratt Graphic Center (now Manhattan Graphic Center); Hunter College; and the Cooper Union.
